Shipments and tracking

What has shipped, what is in transit, and what the carrier last said.

What needs shipping, what is in transit, and what the carrier last said — across every marketplace.

Shipments (open).

Same data as Sales

Shipments and Sales read the same 90-day window through the same loader. They are two filters over one list, not two independent reconstructions, which is why they cannot drift apart about what "Delivered" means or which orders exist.

Shipments differs in two ways: it drops cancelled orders, and it narrows to what is still actionable — so a three-month-old unshipped row does not sit in "Needs shipping" forever.

Statuses

  • Needs shipping — sold, no label or tracking yet. Your queue.
  • In transit — moving.
  • Delivered — arrived.

Status is derived from carrier data where the marketplace provides it.

Tracking by marketplace

MarketplaceTracking source
eBayFulfillment data
MercariShipping data, including consolidated shipments
DepopOrder data
VintedShipment journey
DiscogsManual entry

Two quirks worth knowing:

Mercari consolidates shipments. Several items can travel under one shipment keyed by the order rather than the item. Reskale handles that mapping so a consolidated shipment does not lose its tracking.

Vinted tracking is rate-limited. Lookups are budgeted and backed off rather than run at full speed — Vinted throttles aggressive polling, and being throttled means no tracking at all. Vinted tracking can therefore lag slightly.

Buying labels

Reskale does not sell postage. Buy labels in each marketplace's own flow, where the discounted rates live.

Once purchased, tracking syncs back automatically for every marketplace except Discogs, which has no integrated shipping — enter that tracking by hand.

Packaging data

Weight and dimensions live on the item and drive shipping quotes at listing time. Enter the packed weight — item plus box plus filler — not the item on its own.

Wrong numbers here are a quiet cost: you eat the difference on every parcel that exceeds what you quoted.

Some marketplaces return fractional weights that need normalising into whole units; Reskale converts rather than truncating, so a 1.4 lb parcel does not become a 1 lb one.

Supplies

Supplies tracks boxes, mailers and tape, with the vendor links, so reordering is not a search every time.

If tracking is missing

  • The label may not be bought yet. Nothing to track.
  • The marketplace may not have it yet. Carrier scans lag.
  • The connection may be expired — check Connections.
  • Vinted lags by design, for the rate-limiting reason above.
  • Discogs is manual and always will be.

More: sync and connection issues.
